Replace Client Secret Value

Microsoft has set Client Secret Values from Azure to be valid for a maximum of two years. To ensure that applications continue to read the mailbox, these codes must be renewed every two years.

When a Client Secret Value expires, it results in the mailbox not being read, with emails remaining in the import folder.

Ask your IT department to check this in Azure.

Here is a brief guide to renew this:

  1. Log in to the Azure portal at https://portal.azure.com.
  2. Use the appropriate credentials and go to the 'Azure Active Directory' service.
  3. In the Azure Active Directory dashboard, click on 'App registrations' in the sidebar.
  4. Find and select the application for which you want to renew the Client Secret.
  5. Choose the 'Certificates & secrets' option from the selected application's menu.
  6. Find the specific secret you want to renew.
  7. Click on the secret and select 'Renew' or 'Generate new secret (Client Secret)'. Please share this key with our support so that we can change it for you.
  8. Enter a description for the new secret and choose the duration of validity.
  9. Save the changes.
  10. Delete the old secret (optional)

(The Client Secret Value (secret) is identified by a ~ in the line).

If you are sure that all applications have been updated with the new secret, consider deleting the old secret to minimise possible security risks.
